About Data Value Talk
Data Value Talk explains what a company's operational data is worth to AI labs and how licensing it works. We write for owners and operators of companies with roughly 30 to 500 employees who want a plain answer before they talk to a buyer or a lawyer.
What the site covers
AI labs need data they can't scrape: how real companies actually run. Data companies pay operating businesses to license their records, such as SOPs, support tickets, CRM history and project files. The business sells a license and keeps its data.
Our pages cover how to sell your company's data, what it is worth, who buys it and what the privacy rules say. Before you apply, you can read our review of the program we refer companies to on our companion site.
What we are not
We are not a data buyer, and we don't work or speak for one. We are also not a law firm, an accountant or a broker, and we don't negotiate or sign data deals for anyone. We explain how licensing works so you can ask better questions of the people who do.
How the site is funded
We refer companies whose records may qualify to an AI data buyer, through a referral link. The buyer pays us a referral fee only after a company we refer has its data transferred and approved. You pay us nothing. The buyer does not own or run this site. The disclosure page explains the arrangement.
How we write
- Figures carry a source and a date. Numbers about deals and prices come from named press coverage or from official sources, such as a regulator or a standards body. Anything that can change carries "as of November 2026".
- Legal statements link to the official source. We cite the statute, regulator or agency. Where rules vary by state we say so and point you to the state agency.
- Examples are labeled. A hypothetical example starts with "Example:". We don't publish invented statistics, quotes, testimonials or case studies.
- Gaps are stated. When we can't verify a claim, we leave it out or say we couldn't verify it.
- Pages are dated. Each page shows when it was last updated, and we revise a page when a buyer's terms or the law change.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, or a buyer changes its terms, tell us using the contact line on our privacy page. We correct errors and update the date on the page.
